The Bermuda men’s and ladies national volleyball teams wrapped up their participation on the final day of competition at the prestigious 2025 USA Volleyball Open National Championship in Denver, Colorado.
After several days of intense competition against teams from across the United States, both Bermudian squads concluded their tournaments.
Devil's Isle Ladies Finish Tough Campaign
The Devil’s Isle Ladies team faced a challenging week in the Women's BB Division. Unfortunately, their final match on the last day followed a similar pattern to their previous encounters, as they fell in straight sets to the Rusty Ol Bolts with scores of 25-22, 25-20.
Ultimately, the Devil's Isle Ladies finished the tournament in 35th place in their division, having recorded an 0 wins and 7 losses record, losing all seven of their matches in straight sets. While the results may not reflect the effort put in by the team, the experience gained from competing at such a high level against a diverse range of opponents will be invaluable for their future development and preparation for international competitions.
Ace Boyz Conclude with Defeat but Show Promise
The Ace Boyz Men’s team also concluded their tournament on the final day, facing High Tide in their last match. Despite their efforts, the Ace Boyz went down in straight sets with scores of 25-16, 25-16.
Their overall performance in the Men's BB Division saw them finish in 29th place with a record of 3 wins and 5 defeats. Over the course of their eight matches, the Ace Boyz won 8 sets but lost 10. While they would have hoped for a stronger finish, their three victories highlight their potential and ability to compete against teams from a strong volleyball nation.
Both the Devil's Isle Ladies and the Ace Boyz will now return to Bermuda with valuable insights and experience gained from their participation in this highly competitive national championship. The exposure to different playing styles and the intensity of the competition will undoubtedly contribute to the growth of volleyball in Bermuda.
