A Walk Down Concacaf Memory Lane
With CONCACAF unveiling the fixtures for the Caribbean Qualification (2007 CFU Club Championship) to the 2008 CONCACAF Champions’ Cup this week, Islandstats.com is taking you back down memory lane.

Can you remember when Bermuda had a team in this event.

On April 13th 1991, the Dandy Town Hornets defeated the Brooklyn Italians 3 – 1 in Bermuda, before going down to the same opponents in the second leg 3 – 0 in New York on April 27th, 1991. On that same day April 27th PHC Zebras behind an 8 second goal from Sheridan Ming which remains a Concacaf record defeated A.A.C. Eagles 2 – 0 at the PHC Stadium. The Zebras went down 2 – 1 in the return leg in Chicago but went through on goal difference.

After some confusion over dates for the second round PHC withdrew out of the competition, this is indicated on the Concacaf Website.

This years CFU (Caribbean Football Union) Club Championship will take place from 4-16 November in six venues (Couva, Macoya, Malabar, Marabella, Point-a-Pierre, Port of Spain) in Trinidad & Tobago. This is the first time since 1998 that the CFU Club Tournament will be held in a single country.

Nineteen teams will compete in the first round of the Caribbean Tournament that consists of five groups to be played in round-robin format from 4-8 November.
