Back on December 1, 2005 David Bascome - Commissioner of the Island Soccer League presented the idea to invited guess and the media today at the BUEI.
Bascome said back then he wanted the following:
1. TO CREATE A PROFESSIONAL ENVIRONMENT FOR BERMUDA'S MOST TALENTED PLAYERS
2. TO ESTABLISH BERMUDA'S PLAYERS AS ROLE MODELS FOR THE ISLAND'S YOUTH
3. TO HELP BERMUDIAN SOCCER REACH ITS FULL POTENTIAL
Tonight at the Spinning Wheel Complex 120 players were selected and they will make up Bermuda's first ever 'professional' league.
Though the league is described as 'professional' the players will not receive wages. But they will be playing for prize money of up to $40,000 and if successful. The following shows the top five draft picks for each team.
