A much fancied Trent side met their match in Nottinghamshire as Greg Maybury and his Oakham 1st XI teammates produced their best performance of the season with the bat chasing down 222 comfortably.
Having been asked to take the field, Oakham looked for an early breakthrough which didn't come mainly due to a poor fielding display in the first 20 overs. However, they kept working and wickets began to fall around their Number 3 who batted very well to make a century. The slow bowlers were the most successful with James Spence, Chris Billows and Ben Jacobs - Farnsworth all amongst the wickets. A better performance in the field over the last 10 overs meant that Trent weren't able to get away and they finished on 222/8.
On a good wicket, Oakham started positively and although they lost Will Edwards, who reached for a wide one and was caught behind, Oakham looked on top at the halfway stage. J amie McCormack, on his return to the team, and Tom Fell batted well together, however, McCormack fell just short of his half century and Fell quickly followed for 64. Maybury moved up the order and didn't look out of place, before being caught in the deep on 29. Luke Spears failed to trouble the scorers and was caught at mid on in the following over which brought Jacobs - Farnsworth to the crease, joining Alex Martin. Both remained calm under pressure and finished the job with 2 balls to spare.
