Paget Lions 2 Prospect United 3 AET
In this Shield Semi-Final match-up, Prospect United came from two goals down to advance to face St. George’s Colts in the final. Kenny Durrant gave the Paget Lions the lead in the 19th minute, Kyon Smith doubled the lead in the 41st minute. Kentoine Jennings pulled a goal back for Prospect in the 52nd minute when he converted from the penalty spot, and in injury time Jerry Laws scored to send the game into extra-time. Four minutes in Jennings converted his second penalty of the game to give Prospect the lead and the win.
Friendship Semi-Final
Somerset Trojans 1 North Village Rams 3
After a scoreless first half in this Friendship Semi-Final, the North Village Rams went ahead in the 61st minute, Jason Lee took on two defenders running down the left flank and his cross was put away by Pierre Smith, the Somerset Troijans responded immediately in the 69th minute only a matter of minutes after coming on and with his first touch of the game Adrian Burrows scored to level the score at 1 – 1, however two minutes later Smith struck again, a mix-up between a defender and Somerset goalkeeper Timmy Figuriedo saw Smith able to head home from close range. In injury time another run by Lee his time down the right side saw his cross fall to Ralph Bean Jr. who’s blast made the score 3 – 1.
Tyrell Burgess
Burgess is presently at the Rochester Rhinos training camp. Under the watchful eyes of General Manager Pat Ercoli, Head Coach Bob Lilley and Assistant Coach Bill Sedgewick, the fifteen members of the Rhinos current roster plus twenty invited players took to the pitch in the first practice of the 2010 season.
Burgess was one of the invitees attempting to make the Rhinos Rodter for the upcoming season.
“After a very busy off-season it is exciting to have training camp”, says Rhinos head coach Bob Lilley. “We have been diligent in our player selection process and were anxious to get started in shaping our team.”
Training continues the week at Marina Auto Stadium starting at 10:00am each day. A complete roster of current players and invited players will be released Thursday afternoon.
“We also have a strong group of trialists that will enable us to round out our roster”, said Lilley. “Although there is much work in front of us, the foundation is being laid for an excellent squad with a dynamic future.”
On Saturday March 13th, Rhinos head coach Bob Lilley is expected to field a mixed roster of Rhinos and invited players as the Rhinos take on the Senegal Soccer Club at 12pm (Noon) in their first pre-season game of 2010. The Senegal Soccer Club is made up of African born soccer players looking to showcase their talents and earn a professional soccer contract.
