Brothers Jesse and Zander Kirkland moved up one spot to 26th place after the fourth day of the Rolex Olympic Class Regatta going on in the waters of Biscayne Bay, Miami.
Zander Kirkland said, “Today was another very solid day in the Kirkland Brother's Camp, as the moderate offshore flow continued in Biscayne Bay. Yes, we had some glaring mistakes which cost us at times, but we also had our fair share of great moments which have really helped our morale and confidence. We had great speed off the wind and did a good job hitting shifts and breeze lines up all around the course. Finally we feel like we are competing and we are slowly inching our way towards the front of the fleet. These puffy, flat water conditions suit us well; it is very similar to our college sailing background and growing up sailing in Bermuda. It is also easier to sail the skiff without waves (easier to run around the boat) and puts less emphasis on boat handling while racing, thus helpful for our relatively low level of time in the boat”.
The brothers started the day in 27th place moved up the spot after finishing 21st in race ten the first race of the day, before finishing race eleven in 15th, they then finished the third race of the day in 28th place and now have a total of 242 points.
Manu Dyen & Stephane Christidis from France are the current leaders 65 points, with Simon Karstoft & Jonathan Bay from Denmark in second with 70 points. Allan Norregaard & Peter Lang from Denmark round out the top three with 74 points.
