Day 2 of the 2009 PricewaterhouseCoopers Bermuda Optimist Open and National Championships saw thirty two boats competed in the Championship Fleet, 17 Bermudians and 15 visiting American sailors. Bermudian Sam Stan finished just one point behind overall winner Roger Dorr, to be declared 2009 Bermuda Optimist National Champion. Antonio Bailey was 7th overall and the second Bermudian, with Cecilia Wollmann 8th overall and third Bermudian. Adele Whitmeyer finished fourth overall and top female. while Kenza Wilkes won the Bermuda Nationals Green Fleet Title.
A day after strong winds saw several boats capsized and some others pulled out Dorr won two of the day’s races and had a third place finish. Reinier Enkema Van Dijk from the USA finished second with Sam Stan from Bermuda finishing third.
In the Bermuda Nationals Green Fleet Class Wilkes sailing steady won one of the six races and finished in the top ten four times, with James Amarel finishing second and Lily Barboza finished third.
