Maha Clarke and her Queens University of Charlotte Field Hockey teammates picked up their third win in a row defeating Belmont Abbey College 5-2 on the road.
Queens' Mazvita Mtisi put the Queens on top early with a goal in the second minute of play after receiving a pass from Abby Carls in the circle. Belmont Abbey's Kayley Williams soon followed with a goal for the home team in the sixth minute and the game would remain tied at 1-1 for the next 25 minutes of action. A late first half goal in the 31st minute for Queens would put the Royals back on top heading into the halftime break. Kayleigh Lawrence poked the ball in the net for the score.
The Royals opened the second with back-to-back scores to quickly move out to a 4-1 lead with goals coming from Meghan Smiga and Hanna Nechay. Belmont Abbey's Tyla Goodsell-Matthews broke up Queens' run with a goal in the 50th, but that would be the last for the home team as Sta'sha Waterfield extended the visitors' lead back to three, 5-2, with a goal in the 57th.
Queens outshot Belmont Abbey 15-5, putting 15 shots on goal. Miranda Childers collected the win in goal after totaling one save.
