Nathan Kowalski scored the lone goal of the First Period to give CG a 1 – 0 lead.
James Amaral equalized early in the Second Period for Appleby to level the match at 1 – 1. Kowalski put CG back in front midway through the Period, he would complete his hat-trick minutes before time expired.
Kowalski would score his fourth of the game and his team’s fourth as CG took a 4 – 1 lead, as the Third Period got underway. Marcel Bouwens pulled a goal back for Appleby, before Chris Cairns restored CG’s three goal lead making it 5 – 2, Amaral would then score his second goal of the game to pull Appleby within two goals making the score 5 – 3.
Neither team would score again with CG picking up the win.
