Hawley Talks World Triathlon Cup Performance

IslandStats.com
This past weekend two Bermuda Triathletes competed in Tyler Smith and Erica Hawley.

Hawley Finishes 28th in the 2023 World Triathlon Cup New Plymouth.

Today we bring you comments from Hawley on her performance.

Hawley told www.islandstats.com, “I had mixed emotions about the race. I had an OK swim, exiting the water around 30/35 along with many others.

About half of the girls made the group, and the other half just missed it like me. My transition was a bit slow - and this is something I need to work on coming up (it was also slow in Abu Dhabi).

I felt strong on the bike and pretty much was at the front of my group pushing the pace for 3 laps alone. My run is definitely coming together and I believe that if I had made the group then a 10th-place result would have been achievable with my run ability.

This is an exciting prospect as I have been working on the run for a while now. I lacked a bit of "sharpness" but I am feeling strong in each individual discipline - I just need to put it all together! The course was very challenging with a hilly and technical bike, and on top of that it was raining for half of our race.

Right now, I am trying to figure out my race schedule. I plan to race in Missouri on April 15th. After that, I will most likely target another WTCS event.

I did get Olympic points and move up in the Olympic Qualification.”
