Organizers of the long-awaited World Triathlon Championship Series (WTCS) Bermuda alongside PwC Bermuda, the event’s Official Volunteer Programme Supplier, have opened registration for those on-island seeking to get involved in the action-packed racing, taking place on November, 5th – 6th, 2022.
Volunteerism across the island is one of Bermuda’s greatest strengths when hosting both local and international sporting events, many of whom bring extensive experience to the table.
This year, WTCS Bermuda looks to fill more than 400 positions across 19 sectors, covering the two-day programme.
Hazel Clark, Chairperson, WTSBDA Ltd, and Local Organizing Committee said: “Running an event of this magnitude relies heavily on the support of great partners and dedicated volunteers. Bermuda has proven its solid track record of support in these areas through previous events, and we’re looking for that same great energy for this year’s racing activities in November.
“Continuing to align ourselves with valued supporters such as PwC also allows us to implement a complete volunteer programme, including initiatives demonstrating our appreciation of their time and unwavering efforts. Volunteers are vital to the success of our event.”
This year the organizers are implementing a “Double Up to Win" challenge. With competitions taking place over the course of two days, volunteers over the age of 18 are encouraged to sign up for two or more shifts in roles that span from the Athlete Welcome area, through to Course Marshals. Shifts can be selected for the same day, or on both days. All volunteers who take part in this incentive will be automatically entered for a chance to win one of three Apple or other product prizes being offered by PwC.
Scott Watson-Brown, Partner, PwC Bermuda, commented: “We are thrilled to be the Official Volunteer Programme Sponsor for the World Triathlon Championship Series Bermuda, acting on our purpose and commitment to volunteerism. We encourage everyone to take a look at the volunteer opportunities and be part of this momentous race weekend, which will see the world’s best triathletes compete on our island, including Bermuda’s own Olympic champion, Dame Flora Duffy.”
A wide variety of roles are available to choose from, including marshalling, transition assistance, medal ceremonies, registration, information, and media desk, swim assistants, opening ceremony, elite lounge, food area, and more.
Once registered, volunteers will receive information to attend orientation sessions being held in the month of October where detailed information about items such as dress code, meals, training, and kits will be provided.
To register, a complete list of roles and an official signup sheet can be found at bermuda.triathlon.org/volunteer.
