This morning, a group of runners – The Weekenders, dedicated their run to Eliza Fletcher who was abducted during her morning run around the University of Memphis campus and later murdered.
This virtual run was a way to honor and grieve the loss of Eliza Fletcher.
The runners wore pink and purple as those were the colors she was wearing on her run.
The idea for this initiative was created by Jen Scott in the US who is a fellow runner and she set up a sign-up page on runsignup.com.
The group feels strongly that you should be able to run safely anywhere without the threat of being intimidated or in Eliza’s case abducted.
