World Athletics has announced the weekend of August 8th & 9th as the protected window for national championships following the disruption of the calendar because of the coronavirus pandemic.
Bermuda’s National Track and Field Championships are presently scheduled for June, but this announcement allows the Championships to be moved if the Bermuda National Athletics Association chose.
They hope to allow athletes to compete in their National Championships without scheduling conflicts - but these will only go ahead if it is safe to do so.
In a bid to help athletes prepare for next year's rearranged Olympic Games in Tokyo, World Athletics says it will do everything in its powers to carry out an international competition season later this year.
"If it is at all possible, we will schedule a belated outdoor season from August to October to help our athletes to figure out where they stand after the disruption of this year," said president Sebastian Coe.
