The USAT Junior and Youth Elite Series are the premier triathlon race series for athletes 13 to 19 year olds in the United States. Consisting of four national-caliber competitions each spring and summer, the series prepares athletes for draft-legal competition and qualification to US teams competing at international championships. Each event has two competition categories – a Youth Elite Cup and a Junior Elite Cup – in which athletes are grouped by age and gender. Courses are designed to mimic Olympic style racing, with multiple laps and high speed transitions, making races exciting to watch.
Both Smith and Pilgrim are no strangers to this race series having already competed in various series events over the years. Smith will race junior whilst Pilgrim will be in the youth category. Both of them have shown in previous races that they can compete at this level and both have strong chances of finishing in the top ten or better.
Both Pilgrim and Smith compete on Saturday 18th June, with Pilgrim’s race at 12.30pm Bermuda Time and Smith’s race at 3pm Bermuda Time.
