 Roy Allan Burch IslandStats.com Islandstats.com can today confirm that FINA have invited Kiera Aitken and Roy Allan Burch to the 2008 Beijing Olympics.
Aitken has spent much of the year training and competing in Spain will take part in the 100m Backstroke, while Burch will either compete in the 50m Freestyle or 100m Freestyle. Burch competed in Bermuda this past weekend in the Rego Sotheby National Swimming Championship at the BASA Pool.
Islandstats.com was the only media in Bermuda on hand at the meet that saw Burch set Two New National Records. On Saturday, Burch clocked a time of 51.71 in the 100m Freestyle, and on Sunday Burch recorded a time of 23.03 in the 50m Free.
Speaking to Islandstats.com from the US said, “It was an unbelievable feeling when I got the news that I would be going to Beijing”.
“This is only the beginning, of a four year plan between myself and the Bermuda Swimming Association as we are looking for better things down the road”, continued Burch.
Burch concluded, “Going to Beijing to represent my country is indeed a great honor and I will do my best to make the country proud”.
