Bermudian Olympian Emma Harvey says she has "unfinished business" to settle after breaking four national records in a stunning three-day blitz at the Short Course World Championship Trials in Illinois.
The 25-year-old sprint specialist delivered a masterclass across backstroke and butterfly events, rewriting the Bermuda record books and laying down a formidable marker ahead of December's World Aquatics Short Course Championships in Beijing.
Speaking after her record-breaking outing, Harvey expressed delight with her technical execution, singling out her backstroke performances as the highlight of the meet.
"Overall, I was super happy with the meet," Harvey said. "I think I was definitely most pleased with the 50 backstroke and the 100 backstroke.
"I'm really excited for where that sort of sets me up going into Short Course World Championships in December in Beijing. I'm super, super pleased overall."
Harvey set national standards in the 50m backstroke (27.02s), 100m backstroke (58.01s), 50m butterfly (26.25s), and 100m butterfly (58.62s), signalling that her speed off the walls is peaking at precisely the right time.
The Olympian has now returned to her California training base to complete her final preparations before flying out to China.
"Back in LA now training—will be here for the next three weeks before leaving," Harvey explained. "Everything is going great, I'm super happy.
"I'm definitely really excited for this upcoming season. I feel like there was some unfinished business after last year, and I'm just really excited that I was able to hit the ground running this year."
The World Aquatics Short Course Championships take place in Beijing from December 1st to 6th, where Harvey will headline Bermuda's challenge against the world's elite.
