Sixteen promising young swimmers from Bermuda's Sharks Swim Club have wrapped up an intensive week of warm-weather training at the club’s demanding DC-12 training camp in Florida.
The week-long camp, which also welcomed participants from Harbour Amateur Swimming Club (HASC), pushed the contingent through gruelling pool work and dry-land strength conditioning designed to lay the foundation for the upcoming competitive season.
Florida-based Bermudian swimmer Athena Dyer also joined up with the squad over the weekend to take part in the sessions.
Beyond the physical demands in the water and the gym, the camp focused heavily on high-performance education. Swimmers attended seminars covering sports nutrition, metabolic energy systems, and active recovery protocols, with coaches emphasizing the daily professional habits and mental resilience required to compete at regional and international levels.
The rigorous itinerary wrapped up on a high note, with the athletes enjoying a well-earned excursion to Universal Studios before returning home.
"The swimmers worked extremely hard, supported one another, and learned how to respond when training became difficult," said Sharks Head Coach Ben Smith.
"The challenge now is to carry that effort and those habits home. We look forward to seeing what this group can achieve this season."
Smith spearheaded the camp's coaching programme alongside Assistant Coach and Team Manager Shirene Fulton, with Liam Evans overseeing the squad's strength and conditioning regimens.
