Bermudian swimmer Marleigh Howes enjoyed an impressive collegiate debut as McGill University dominated the opening RSEQ University Cup meet of the 2026-27 season.
Hosted by the Université de Montréal at the CEPSUM 25-metre pool, the Martlets delivered a commanding collective display to finish top of the team standings and lay down an early marker for the campaign ahead.
Freshman Howes—a sprint freestyle and butterfly specialist from Warwick—wasted no time making her presence felt on the Canadian university circuit.
She opened her account with a composed swim in the 100m freestyle, stopping the clock in exactly one minute flat (1:00.00).
Howes then backed up that performance in the sprint butterfly, touching the wall in 29.25 seconds over 50 metres to round off a sharp opening weekend and help seal an emphatic team triumph for McGill.
