The Bermuda Motorcycle Racing Association has launched a dedicated recruitment drive for young riders, while also gearing up to settle "unfinished business" at the St. John Ambulance Trophy races this weekend.
BMRA President David Jones Sr confirmed that the association is actively seeking aspiring racers aged between eight and 14 as part of its grassroots development pathway.
Under the initiative, young participants will be introduced to Mayor MotoGP 110cc race bikes and evaluated through structured, controlled riding courses. The programme focuses on key fundamentals, testing candidates on:
Riding ability and throttle control Balance and agility Track confidence Discipline and following track instructions
Prospective riders are required to already know how to handle a pedal bicycle or an e-bike before entering the controlled courses.
The BMRA is also exploring the introduction of a dedicated e-bike racing category. The proposed class aims to teach young competitors machine control, track awareness, and safe, responsible riding within a secure racing environment.
Sessions are scheduled to take place every Saturday from 12:00 PM to 3:00 PM.
Alongside the youth recruitment drive, attention shifts to competitive circuit action this Sunday, 4 October, with the staging of the St. John Ambulance Trophy races.
Billed by the association as a showdown to settle unfinished business from earlier in the season, the event gets under way from 2:00 PM sharp.
