Mexico have confirmed their squad to face Bermuda in the upcoming Davis Cup World Group II tie, naming a balanced four-man roster under the guidance of captain and coach Adrián Contreras.
The visiting side will be spearheaded by Luis Carlos Álvarez Valdés, who arrives as the highest-ranked singles player in the selection at world number 414. Álvarez Valdés also holds an ATP doubles ranking of 759.
Providing experienced support is Alex Hernández, who sits at 471 in singles and brings valuable pedigree on the doubles circuit with a ranking of 301.
Alan Magadán features as Mexico’s top-ranked doubles specialist in the team at world number 220, while also possessing formidable singles credentials at 513.
The squad is completed by Alan Fernando Rubio Fierros, ranked 1,240th in singles and 614th in doubles, giving Contreras plenty of tactical flexibility across both the singles rubbers and the crucial doubles fixture.
Mexico will be heavily favoured on paper given their professional tour rankings, but Bermuda will be looking to leverage home-court advantage at the W.E.R. Joell Tennis Stadium when the nations lock horns this weekend.
