Bermudian motorcycle talent Aeziah Divine reflected on a demanding but productive outing as he continued his campaign in the R&G Moto4 British Cup at Hampshire’s iconic Thruxton Circuit.
Competing in the ultra-competitive junior development class, the teenager showed solid pace throughout the event despite battling track temperatures and tyre degradation at the fastest circuit on the UK racing calendar.
Divine qualified 14th on the grid after encountering difficulties stringing together a clean slipstream lap when separated from the lead pack.
"Overall it was a productive day," Divine said. "Qualifying started off well while being in a group, but the second I lost touch of the group I wasn’t able to get slipstream and struggled to get a lap in and finished in P14."
In Race 1, Divine held his ground during a combative opening phase before severe tyre drop-off in the heat hampered his late-race progress.
"The start wasn’t the best, I didn’t make up any places off the line, but I worked hard to stay with the group at the start of the race," Divine added. "Unfortunately towards the end I didn’t realise how much the tyre drop-off would be from the heat, and I had a few moments which started to slow me down and I lost touch of the group ahead of me."
Divine will look to take the lessons from the opening race into the remainder of the race weekend as he continues his development on the British circuit.
