Bermudian swimmer Connor Hupman delivered an action-packed week of racing at the TYR Futures Championship in Knoxville, making his mark across multiple individual finals and relay performances ahead of international duties later this month.
Hupman set a strong tone early on, qualifying for the 200m freestyle D final and stopping the clock at 1:56.35 to finish 28th overall. He capped off the opening day in electric fashion, splitting 23.05 in the 200m medley relay to power Baylor Swim Club to victory in a time of 1:32.54.
Building on that momentum, Hupman reached the C final in the 100m freestyle, touching the wall in 52.36 seconds, before contesting the D final of the 100m backstroke in 59.49 seconds.
The third day brought another double-header. Hupman clocked 27.32 seconds in the C final of the 50m backstroke before splitting 51.25 to help his squad capture a runner-up finish in the 400m freestyle relay.
Closing out the meet on the final day, the Bermudian sprinted to a 24.05-second finish in the 50m freestyle and contributed to a 14th-place effort in the 400m medley relay.
Following his high-volume performance in Tennessee, Hupman now turns his focus to representing Bermuda at the Junior Pan Pacific Swimming Championships in Vancouver, taking place from August 17th – 20th.
