Jacob Leclerc narrowly got the better of his sibling Sofia in a pulsating finish as the Bermuda Triathlon Association hosted its latest popular Tri-A-Tri event at Clearwater Beach.
Under clear blue skies, the competitors took to the crystal-clear waters and fast road circuits to test their mid-season speed across a variety of multi-sport distances.
The premier event of the morning—featuring a 200m swim, 8km bike, and 2km run—proved to be an absolute thriller.
Jacob Leclerc ultimately took the tape in a blistering time of 25 minutes and 39 seconds, but he was pushed to the absolute limit. Sofia Leclerc matched him transition for transition, crossing the line a mere 13 seconds later in 25.52 to claim a brilliant second place.
The podium was completed by Philip Woollins, who clocked a strong 26.08. Joshua Cann secured fourth place in 29.47, while Paul Tohill (32.01) and Emma Palmer (35.29) completed the top six after excellent shifts out on the course.
Away from the main three-discipline event, several specialist categories saw dominant solo performances.
In the 200m swim and 8km bike category, Julia Hawley put on an impressive display of standalone power, stopping the clock in an efficient 20.44.
Meanwhile, it was a family celebration of a different kind on the shorter courses as the Kemp household dominated the sprint variants. Heath Kemp tore up the 200m swim and 5.3km bike course to finish in exactly 16.00. Not to be outdone, Indigo Kemp showcased superb foot-speed in the 100m swim and 1km run aquathlon event, storming home in a rapid 7.30.
