Quinton Simons and Sarah Frith produced a tactical masterclass in the heavy waters off the West End Sail Boat Club to be crowned the Canute & Myrtle Lambert Regatta Champions.
The formidable duo showcased supreme adaptability across the four-race series, recovering from a sluggish start to completely dominate the remainder of the afternoon's fleet racing.
It was not entirely smooth sailing from the outset for the newly crowned champions. In the opening race of the day, Simons and Frith found themselves tangled in mid-fleet traffic, ultimately crossing the line in a hard-fought third place.
However, that minor setback only seemed to sharpen their resolve. Regrouping instantly, the pair went on to orchestrate a near-flawless campaign, stringing together three consecutive bullets to comfortably seal the regatta crown.
Behind the runaway leaders, a fierce mathematical dogfight unfolded for the remaining podium positions, with the Brangman family pairing emerging as the best of the rest.
Dale Brangman and son Daylon Brangman secured the runner-up spot overall with a remarkably consistent score of 6 points. Their resilient afternoon on the water yielded a victory of their own, backed up by a second and a third-place finish.
Consistency Key in Shifting Winds The battle for third was settled by a mere two points. Greg Wade and Geno Smith kept themselves in contention all afternoon with two brilliant runner-up finishes, but a costly fourth-place slip-up locked them into third overall on 8 points.
Antony Smith and his crew, Hong Gao, narrowly missed out on the podium altogether, finishing an agonizing fourth overall just one point back on 9 points. Meanwhile, Lorenzo Lambert and Shane Morrissey completed the top five, enduring a tougher afternoon on the water to finish on 14 points.
