The World Triathlon Championship Series made a spectacular return to the classic Yokohama course, where Sweden’s Tilda Månsson secured her first-ever podium in style, taking the gold in a grueling Elite Women’s race.
On a day defined by tactical bike packs and a blistering run pace, Månsson etched her name into the history books with a clinical performance, while Bermuda’s Erica Hawley demonstrated remarkable resilience to secure a top-25 finish among the world’s elite.
The narrative of the day belonged to the young Swede. Tilda Månsson delivered a masterclass in endurance, clocking a winning time of 1:51:34. The victory marks a significant milestone in her career, as she fended off a high-calibre chasing pack to claim her maiden WTCS podium and victory on one of the circuit’s most technically demanding courses.
Bermuda’s Erica Hawley faced a stern test in a field stacked with Olympians and world champions. Hawley crossed the line in 23rd position with an overall time of 1:55:37, finishing four minutes and one second adrift of the leader.
Her race was a story of steady progression. Hawley emerged from the water in 29th place after a testing 1,500m swim, clocking 20:15. She then showcased her strength on the wheels, navigating the technical 40km bike course in 1:01:46 to remain within striking distance of the mid-pack.
Hawley saved her best for the final discipline, producing a powerful 31:36 split for the 10km run. Her pace through the final leg allowed her to consolidate her position and secure valuable points in the world rankings as the season intensifies.
