Morris Gains Vital Experience as Howard Compete in Florida

IslandStats.com
Howard University’s Sanaa Morris continued her collegiate development on the national stage as the Bison women’s track and field team descended on Orlando for the highly competitive UCF Knights Invite.

In a meet that featured a sprawling field of elite talent from across the United States, Morris was tested across two sprint distances, providing a vital benchmark for her outdoor season progression.

On a scorching afternoon in Florida, Morris faced a mammoth field in the Women’s 200m. Navigating a technical race against over 160 competitors, the Bermudian standout stopped the clock in 26.01 seconds to finish 134th overall.

While the 200m served as a sharpener for her top-end speed, it was in the Women’s 400m where Morris showed her grit over the full lap. In a heavily congested field of 130 sprinters, she delivered a composed performance to finish 84th overall, crossing the line in a solid 57.66 seconds.

The UCF Knights Invite is renowned for its depth, often serving as a preview for regional and conference championships. For Morris, the exposure to such a high-density competitive environment is a crucial component of Howard’s strategic build-up.

As the Bison continue their tour of the major southern meets, the focus for the sophomore remains on shaving precious fractions off her season bests. With her 400m time holding steady in the mid-57s, Morris is establishing the consistency required as the team looks toward the business end of the MEAC outdoor schedule.
