Evans strike denies Brunson’s & Cooper’s QPR Victory

IslandStats.com
Queens Park Rangers Development Squad were left to rue missed opportunities as a late Makise Evans equalizer secured a 1-1 draw for Colchester United at Florence Park. Despite an early strike from Jaylan Pearman, the R’s were unable to secure all three points in their latest Professional Development League encounter.

Bermudian winger Kalen Brunson—who famously became QPR's second-youngest senior debutant in August 2025—was a key figure in the Rangers attack, featuring as part of a development group overseen by compatriot and goalkeeper coach Dashun Cooper.

The visitors made the perfect start after just eight minutes when Jaylan Pearman capitalized on an assist from Kaleb Dyke to beat U's keeper Harrison Chamberlain. Pearman nearly doubled the advantage early in the second half but saw his effort sail just over the bar, while substitute Rohan Vaughan also went close with a header 13 minutes from time.

Colchester’s persistence finally paid off in the 81st minute when Makise Evans converted from close range following a cross from the left. QPR goalkeeper Charlie Warren was required to make several vital saves, including a superb tip-over from a late Ronnie Harvey free-kick, to ensure the spoils were shared.

The result leaves QPR in 8th place in the South division standings as they prepare for another away fixture against Watford this Tuesday.
