Weather Wipes out School All-Star Saturday

IslandStats.com
The Bermuda School Sports Federation (BSSF) has been forced to postpone the highly anticipated Primary and Middle School Football All-Star matches scheduled for Saturday, January 31st.

The fixtures, which were set to take place at the National Sports Centre North Field, have been called off due to a forecast of challenging weather conditions.

Current forecasts for Saturday in Bermuda predict heavy rain during the day, with temperatures reaching a high of 22°C and winds gusting from the southeast at 29 mph. The risk of inclement weather, which includes an 85% chance of rain by Saturday night, has led officials to prioritize the safety of the young student-athletes.

Historically, the BSSF has taken a cautious approach to "Mother Nature," often rescheduling these popular showcase matches to avoid conflicting with BFA youth leagues or risking player injury on saturated surfaces. Last year’s edition similarly saw delays due to rainfall, highlighting the difficulties of the mid-winter sporting calendar.

While a new date for the primary and middle school showpieces has yet to be finalized, the BSSF is expected to announce the revised schedule early next week. In the meantime, the Senior School Cross Country remains on the calendar for Tuesday, February 3rd, followed by the middle and primary school events later that week.
