Jimenez’s Hibs U19 Bow Out of UEFA Youth League

IslandStats.com
Hibernian Under 19s saw their UEFA Youth League journey come to a close following a narrow aggregate defeat against Dynamo Kyiv, despite securing a 1-1 draw in the crucial second-leg match.

Manager Darren McGregor was forced to make two changes to his starting line-up for the must-win second leg. Unfortunately for Hibs, one of those changes impacted the attack, as 17-year-old winger and Bermuda international Logan Jimenez missed out through sickness.

Jimenez was replaced by Callum MacDonald, who had delivered a crucial assist off the bench in the first leg at Easter Road.

Having lost the first leg 1-0, Hibs needed a positive result to overturn the deficit and advance in the competition.

The second leg ended 1-1, which meant Hibernian U19s suffered a narrow aggregate defeat, ending their run in the UEFA Youth League. While the team showed spirit and resilience to secure a draw on the night, it was not enough to overcome the goal difference from the first encounter.

The focus for the U19 squad will now return to domestic competitions, with the experience of the UEFA Youth League proving invaluable for the development of players like Logan Jimenez.
