Trio Triple Crown Winners

IslandStats.com
Bermudians Michael Madeiros and Jah’Zion Taylor, along with Bermuda resident Heris Ziai, have been at the heart of St. Andrew’s College (SAC) 1st Soccer’s remarkable 2025 season—helping guide the team to an extraordinary third title in less than two months. From national and regional championships to a triumphant home-turf win at the MSV Showcase, this talented trio have consistently delivered stand-out performances, bringing pride to Bermuda and playing key roles in one of SAC’s most successful soccer seasons ever.

Just one week after their best-ever showing at the Can-Am Super Cup Showcase facing elite U19 club and prep school competition in Connecticut, SAC went 2-1-1 at the MSV Showcase and clinched the championship with a gritty 1–0 win over RMPUS (QC)—decided in a penalty shootout. The clean sheet was supported by a composed and organized backline anchored by Michael Madeiros ’27 and Heris Ziai ’27, whose defensive awareness and communication were vital throughout the match. Goalkeeper Raistlan Evans ’27 made the decisive save in the shootout to seal SAC’s third trophy of the fall, after previously winning the CAIS National Championship and the CISAA League Title.

The win also served as redemption, after SAC had lost to RMPUS 2–0 the previous day. Earlier in the tournament, a late rebound goal from Captain Joshua Henriques ’26 secured a 1–0 victory over Toronto United U19, with Joseph Corsetti ’28 earning the clean sheet. In Sunday’s opener, Nick Alexander ’27 equalized in a 1–1 draw against Futuro (Ottawa)—thanks to a pinpoint free kick assist from Bermuda resident Heris Ziai ’27, connecting centre back to centre back.

This title followed SAC’s best-ever performance at the Can-Am Super Cup Showcase, where the team finished 2-1-1, notching wins over Sigma U19 (ON) and Asante Elite U19 (ON) and drawing with top-ranked South Kent School (CT). The Saints’ backline was dominant throughout the showcase, with Bermudian defender Michael Madeiros ’27 playing a pivotal role. His calm under pressure, precise tackles, and aerial strength were crucial in securing the clean sheet against Sigma and limiting quality chances across all four matches. Madeiros’ leadership and defensive discipline were widely recognized as key to SAC’s performance at the elite U.S. event.

Jah’Zion Taylor ’27, also Bermudian, made his mark in Connecticut with a composed finish in the draw against South Kent, continuing his streak of consistent attacking contributions throughout the season. Heris Ziai, recovering from injury, showed his value during the MSV Showcase with smart positioning, vocal leadership, and a game-changing assist to send SAC into the final.

Coach Adrian Bradbury reflected on the group’s success, “Michael, Jah’Zion, and Heris have been instrumental to our success this year,” said Coach Adrian Bradbury. “Michael was a rock at the back throughout both the Can-Am Showcase and the MSV tournament—he brings a calmness and maturity to the game, always committed to protecting his goal. Jah’Zion continues to step up in key moments, making an impact when it matters most. And Heris, even while recovering, has shown how much he means to this group with his exceptional game awareness and quick ball movement. These young men are helping to put Bermuda on the map—locally and internationally—while playing a major role in shaping the legacy of this team.

All three players continue to develop back home in Bermuda with Warwick Football Academy and Robin Hood Football Club under Coach Richard Todd. Earlier this summer, Madeiros made his debut for Bermuda’s U17 National Team at the Triangle Cup—an experience he described as “an honour” and one he hopes to build upon in future national team appearances.
