Saltus Grammar School were crowned champions of the Bermuda School Sports Federation’s Under 13 Boys Six-A-Side Football Tournament after defeating the Whitney Institute 2 - 0 in the final at Shelly Bay field.
The final was decided by goals from Roman Gaglio and Lagan Slator, securing the title for Saltus after a high-energy tournament.
Saltus’s path to the final was marked by a tense Semi-Final clash against Warwick Academy. With neither side able to find the back of the net during regulation time, Saltus held their nerve to progress via the penalty spot.
Their final opponents, the Whitney Institute, had earned their spot in the final after a hard-fought Semi-Final victory over Somersfield Academy. Whitney prevailed 2-1 in that match, with Julian Simmons proving the difference-maker by scoring both goals. Shiloh Stevens was on target for Somersfield Academy, but his goal was not enough to prevent their elimination.
The tournament showcased the depth of talent in middle school football, promising a competitive future for the sport in Bermuda.
