Bermudian karting champion Scott Barnes successfully navigated a challenging day at the prestigious SKUSA SuperNationals at the Las Vegas Motor Speedway, shrugging off the misfortune that plagued his earlier races. Competing in the highly competitive Master Shifter Class, Barnes demonstrated his resilience and speed in a critical heat race, moving himself up the running order.
Having opted not to take part in the Warm Up race earlier in the day, the veteran driver rolled out for Heat Three with a clear objective to secure a strong finish and improve his grid position for the upcoming main events. He achieved just that, crossing the line in fourteenth place.
Barnes completed the 10-lap heat in a total time of 7 minutes, 45.63 seconds, a vital result in a class that features some of the best international shifter kart drivers. After facing disappointing outcomes in previous heats due to unavoidable collisions and mechanical setbacks, this finish provides a much-needed boost and keeps his hopes of a strong overall result alive in what is considered North America’s most elite karting event. Barnes, a former SKUSA Pro Tour champion and two-time SuperNationals podium finisher, will now focus on carrying this momentum into the crucial final races.
