The Butterfield Bermuda Championship is set to tee off, November 13th, marking the penultimate event of the FedExCup Fall schedule at the renowned Port Royal Golf Club.
While the majority of golf’s biggest stars are resting or competing overseas, the field is highlighted by compelling storylines, including the surprising presence of the highest-ranked player and the excitement surrounding Bermuda’s homegrown talent.
The highest-ranked player in the field is Michael Brennan, the 23-year-old Wake Forest product, who currently sits at No. 42 in the Official World Golf Ranking. Brennan’s journey to Bermuda is one for the ages:
Weeks ago, he failed to qualify locally for this very tournament. However, he immediately secured a sponsor invite to the Bank of Utah Championship and proceeded to win the event in only his third career Tour start. That victory grants him a two-year PGA Tour exemption, meaning he arrives at Port Royal with his future secured. Brennan is scheduled to make his third consecutive start on Tour this week.
The only other player from the OWGR top 50 in the field is Sam Stevens, ranked No. 48, who is seeking his maiden victory on Tour.
For the Bermuda community, the focus is squarely on the three local players who successfully navigated the rigorous Local Qualifier to earn their spot in the field:
Will Haddrell: The amateur survived the punishing 36-hole qualifier to finish as the top Bermudian golfer.
Kenneth Leseur: Leseur secured his spot to compete in the island's flagship PGA Tour event for the second time in his career.
Oliver Betschart: The young golfer completes the trio, representing the island and a new generation of local talent.
These three home players face a demanding test against a field of PGA Tour professionals but will benefit from the passionate local support and their intimate knowledge of the coastal Port Royal layout.
The battle for the crucial top 100 on the FedExCup standings—the cutoff for a 2026 PGA Tour card—adds high stakes to every round this week.
