Thomas Cechini and his Loyola University Maryland Swimming and Diving teammates delivered a strong individual showing against the powerhouse Naval Academy at Navy's Lejeune Hall, despite the Loyola University Maryland men's squad falling 164-125 in the overall team score.
The Bermudian swimmer contributed valuable points in the freestyle events, showcasing consistency in both middle and longer distances.
Cechini was highly competitive in the individual freestyle events:
In the Men's 200 Yard Freestyle, Cechini touched the wall in sixth place with a time of 1:42.98. He repeated that result in the longer Men's 500 Yard Freestyle, once again finishing sixth with a clocking of 4:42.55.
Cechini also played a key role in the relay events, swimming the anchor leg for the Loyola University-MD Men’s 400 Yard Freestyle Relay C team, which secured a third-place finish with a strong overall time of 3:11.07.
The dual meet provides a stiff early-season test for the Greyhounds as they prepare for the core of their collegiate campaign.
