White’s Bentley Enter New Era as Walsh Takes the Helm

IslandStats.com
There’s a fresh face on the pool deck at Bentley University, with Kevin Walsh taking over the women’s swimming & diving programme for the first time in nearly three decades. But while the coach may be new, the high expectations remain firmly in place.

Walsh steps into a significant role, succeeding the legendary Mary Kay Samko, who recently retired after a remarkable 29-year tenure. Samko’s dedicated leadership was recognized with her induction into the Bentley Athletics Hall of Fame this past September.

Walsh inherits a programme built on consistency, with the Falcons having finished as Reserve Champions at the Northeast 10 (NE10) Championships for four consecutive years. His task will be to convert that perennial second-place status into the top spot.

A crucial component of Walsh’s first squad will be the veteran presence and aquatic prowess of senior Bermudian swimmer, Taylor White.

White will be counted on not only for her veteran leadership but also for her continued success in the freestyle events. Last year, she demonstrated her quality at the NE10 Conference Championship, securing bronze in the demanding 1,000-freestyle.

Her speed was also vital to the team’s relay success, where she helped Bentley claim three different silver medals. As a senior, White’s experience and point-scoring ability will be key as Coach Walsh begins his new chapter, aiming to finally push the Falcons to the summit of the NE10.
