Two female competitors battled the heat and humidity of the Kailua-Kona course as the IRONMAN World Championship hosted both men and women on the sport’s spiritual home soil.
Marie-Lyne Dore and Ashley Couper both completed the ultimate endurance challenge, delivering strong age-group finishes against a global field.
Dore's Sub-10:30 Performance
Marie-Lyne Dore was the faster of the two, crossing the line in a superb overall time of 10 hours, 22 minutes, and 7 seconds (10:22:07), placing her 969th overall.
Her race split saw her exit the swim in 1:11:53, complete the challenging bike leg in 5:27:08, and close with a swift marathon time of 3:32:04.
Dore’s performance secured her a fantastic 8th place finish in the highly competitive Female 40-44 Age Group and she was the 93rd female finisher overall.
Couper Excels in Age Group
Ashley Couper completed her Kona campaign with a total time of 11:07:06, finishing 1,691st overall.
Couper, who is known for her strong running, posted splits of 1:20:14 for the swim, 5:45:09 for the bike, and a 3:44:50 run to finish her gruelling day.
Her time earned her a respectable 27th place in the Female 45-49 Age Group, confirming her position as the 297th female to cross the iconic finish line.
