Local Racing: Matt Boys Triumphs in Thrilling Chase Race
Back on the island, the Bermuda Roulants Cycling Club (BRCC) delivered another innovative and exciting event this weekend with its Chase Race at Clearwater.
The unique format saw four categories (Women, C, B, and A) start at staggered intervals on the fast 3.25-mile circuit. The B group started three minutes after the leading groups, with the A category waiting a full five minutes before beginning their high-stakes pursuit.
The tactical and thrilling race culminated in a dramatic finale, with the catch of the leading group made less than one kilometre from the finish line.
Ultimately, Matt Boys powered to the overall victory, finishing six seconds clear of the fast-closing bunch. Jackson Langley claimed second place, narrowly ahead of Clifford Roberts in third, and Sam Bullen in fourth.
The creative format kept riders challenged and spectators entertained, cementing the BRCC's reputation for fresh local racing.
