Hat-Trick Heroism & Goal Barrage Mark Double-Header

IslandStats.com
The Bermuda Ball Hockey Winter League served up a thrilling goal-filled double-header at the PCC Hockey Rink last night, with the two matches producing a combined 18 goals and plenty of drama for the opening night crowd.

CG 3 ACT 4

The evening began with a seven-goal thriller as ACT edged CG 4-3.

ACT got off to a flying start in the First Period, building a two-goal cushion thanks to two quick strikes from Shane Matchett. CG demonstrated resilience, however, drawing level in the Second Period with goals from Danny Hudson and Jeremy Estey.

The decisive goals came in a tense third period. Matchett completed his hat-trick to restore ACT’s lead at 3-2. Anthony Kapsimalis extended that advantage to 4-2, a goal which ultimately proved crucial. Despite a late rally sparked by Dallas Montgomery pulling a goal back for CG, ACT held on for the narrow 4-3 victory.

Spine & Sport 3 BDA Spirits 8

The goal-scoring continued in the second match as BDA Spirits defeated Spine & Sport 8-3, reversing the fortune of the Spine & Sport team who had won in overtime earlier in the week.

Spine & Sport initially took the lead in the First Period through Jake Fenske. However, BDA Spirits responded swiftly, leveling through Jeffrey Ingelman before Ryan Marshall gave them a 2-1 lead heading into the first break.

The game was broken open in the Second Period when BDA Spirits put on an attacking masterclass, outscoring Spine & Sport 5-2 to race to a 7-3 lead. Mathieu Ingelman and Alex Larouche each netted two goals, while Jeffrey Ingelman also registered his second of the game. Spine & Sport’s efforts came from a second goal for Jake Fenske and a strike from Rob Rego.

Patrick Bousfield capped off the dominant evening for BDA Spirits, scoring the only goal of the Third Period to finalize the resounding 8-3 victory.
