Bermudian youth international Nayan Grant and his Gillingham Under 18 teammates secured another win in the PDL Cup Group Stage, defeating Charlton 2-0 after a dominant second-half display on the road.
Following a competitive but scoreless first half, the young Gills came out strong after the break. They were rewarded in the 53rd minute when Gillingham broke the deadlock to take a 1-0 lead.
Midway through the second half, Bermudian Nayan Grant was instrumental in creating another major opportunity for his side. In the 73rd minute, Grant won the ball deep in his own half and surged forward into the Charlton territory. He delivered a well-weighted floated cross that found teammate Carruthers, whose final effort was deflected wide.
However, Grant's pressure and creativity were quickly rewarded. Gillingham managed to double their lead just six minutes later (79') to secure the 2-0 victory, claiming another three points in their PDL Cup campaign. The win continues the Gills' strong start to the season.
