Bermuda Finishes Seventh After Competitive Run at GTRR

IslandStats.com
Team Bermuda concluded their campaign at the highly competitive 2025 Global Team Race Regatta (GTRR) at the Newport Harbor Yacht Club, finishing in a respectable seventh place out of 12 elite international teams.

The Bermudian squad, featuring Josh Greenslade, Sammy Dill, Alan Frith, and Ruth Mello-Cann, maintained their fighting spirit through the final day of the round-robin format.

On the final day of racing, Team Bermuda went 2-1, securing crucial wins against the Italian team and the New York Yacht Club (NYYC).

However, their dream of reaching the knockout quarter-finals was ultimately ended by the Dutch team, whom they fell to in one of the decisive races.

The final results saw Bermuda finish tied with England (Royal Thames Yacht Club) for the last spot in the knockout round. Unfortunately, the English team held the tiebreaker advantage, having defeated Bermuda twice during the round-robin stage, thus denying the Bermudian team a place in the next phase.

Despite missing the cut for the final knockout bracket, the team’s strong showing against a field that included Australia, Japan, and Sweden marks a solid international performance. The experience gained from competing at this elite level will prove invaluable for the Bermudian crew.
