Youth talent triumphed at the Bermuda Mixed Foursomes Championships at the par-54 Turtle Hill Golf Club, with the formidable pairing of thirteen-year-old Darina Betschart and twelve-year-old Lewis MacFarlane claiming the Championship Flight Gross title.
Betschart and MacFarlane delivered a stellar final round, carding an impressive 3-under par 51 on the challenging par-3 course. Their two-day gross total secured first place by a comfortable four shots over the leading contenders.
Both had successful summers at the Optimist, Caribbean Junior Championships and at the North America Cup in Canada.
Veteran pair Linda Down and Jarryd Dillas, the overnight leaders, finished as Gross Runners-Up. The team of Cynthia Semos and Mikus Ming rounded out the top three gross finishers, sitting just one shot back.
The Net Division proved to be incredibly tight, requiring retrogression (a countback system) to separate the winners. The top spot ultimately went to the team of Ann Symonds and Walter Jackson. The husband-and-wife pairing of Oceana Yates and Andrew Yates claimed the Net Runners-Up spot.
In the First Flight competition, the sibling pair of Lianna Aggarwal and Rishi Aggarwal secured the championship with a two-round total of 122.
The final results underscore the depth of talent emerging in Bermuda golf, with the young duo of Betschart and MacFarlane staking their claim in a premier local event.
