Racer Aeziah Divine faced a highly challenging opening day at the Bennetts British Superbike Championship (BSB) round at Oulton Park, battling heavy rain and high winds in the R&G British Talent Cup.
Divine showed exceptional pace early in the day, despite the adverse and deteriorating conditions.
Divine’s first practice session provided a huge confidence boost. Competing on a very wet and windy track, he spent the majority of the session inside the top 10, even briefly climbing into the top five.
However, his promising run was halted in the final five minutes. Divine acknowledged that he pushed the limits too far, getting too close to the inside white lines of the track, which caused him to lose the front end of his machine. The minor crash was a blow, causing him to drop out of the top eight spots by the session's end.
The weather continued to worsen for the second practice session. Divine found himself caught up in several groups on the track but struggled to find the clear track position needed to improve his time. With the conditions deteriorating and visibility dropping, he was unable to post a faster lap time.
Despite the setback in the first session, Divine’s early speed is a positive sign as he looks to rebound and qualify strongly in the British Talent Cup competition tomorrow.
