The Bermuda Football Association (BFA) concluded its Annual Congress Meeting at the Bermuda College, celebrating a highly successful year both on the pitch and in the balance sheet, while welcoming new faces to its Executive Council.
The Congress, which represents the ultimate authority in Bermudian football, received overwhelmingly positive year-end reports from its Standing Committees. The primary highlight was the exceptional gold medal haul at the Island Games in Orkney:
The Senior Women’s National Team continued their regional dominance by capturing their third gold medal, and their second in succession. The Men’s Under 23 Team also earned the gold medal, achieving the top spot after competing successfully against a series of strong men’s teams.
On the financial front, the BFA was granted an administrative "clean bill of health." The Association reported receiving an unqualified audit opinion by Deloitte, confirming its robust financial practices. This was further validated by successfully passing FIFA’s Audit of the funding provided by the world governing body, demonstrating strong accountability to international partners.
BFA President Mark Wade delivered an impassioned plea to the attending clubs, urging them to reinvigorate their Presidents Forum. Wade stressed the need for renewed commitment to the forum to ensure the development of the game receives the crucial year-round attention it deserves.
The meeting concluded with the election of two new officers to the BFA Executive Council:
Referee Tashun Simons and St. George’s Cricket Club President Mishael Paynter was elected from a pool of four candidates.
The Congress was attended by several notable figures, including Director of Sport and Recreation, Kimberly Charryse Bean, as well as Honorary Vice Presidents Neville Tyrell MP and Larry Mussenden, Chief Justice of Bermuda, underscoring the importance of football to the island’s community and governance.
