Six Champions Crowned at Athene's Kickstart Cup

While we know the printing press will headline negative news in Football, www.islandstats.com is bringing the good in sports as Hundreds of youngsters descended upon the National Sports Centre this weekend for the Athene's Kickstart Cup 2025, marking the start of the youth football season with six age-group champions crowned across boys' and girls' divisions. The tournament delivered drama and dominant performances, with three of the six finals decided by the narrowest of margins.

Boys’ Division: Penalties and Dominance

The Boys’ divisions featured a mix of emphatic wins and tense shootouts:
Under 7 Boys: The Boulevard Blazers set the tone with a commanding victory, defeating the Devonshire Colts 5-0 in a one-sided final to claim the Under 7 title.
Under 9 Boys: The Dandy Town Hornets showcased their quality, beating X-Road’s Warriors Black 2-0 in the final to take the Under 9 crown.
Under 11 Boys: The final in this age group went right down to the wire. Junior Kix Stars White battled Warwick Football Academy Ajax to a 2-2 draw before eventually emerging victorious on kicks from the penalty mark.

Girls’ Division: Warwick Academy Dominates

Warwick Football Academy proved to be the powerhouse in the Girls' tournament, sweeping all three age categories:
Under 7 Girls: Warwick Football Academy claimed the first girls' title, defeating the Devonshire Colts 2-0 in a solid final performance.
Under 9 Girls: In a highly competitive final, Warwick Football Academy Napoli finished level at 1-1 against their internal rivals, Warwick Football Academy Inter Milan, before clinching the championship on kicks from the penalty mark.
Under 11 Girls: Warwick Football Academy Manchester completed the clean sweep for the academy, securing the Under 11 crown with a narrow 1-0 win over the VYP Girls.

The tournament successfully kicked off the youth football calendar, providing young players with an exciting return to competitive action.
