Logan Jimenez and his youthful Hibernian Development Squad teammates secured their first point in the KDM Evolution Trophy with a hard-earned 1-1 draw against Cove Rangers at Balmoral Stadium.
Hibernian went into the match with a particularly youthful squad, featuring a number of changes from their previous outing, and faced a stiff test from their hosts. After a challenging start, the Hibees grew into the game.
The breakthrough came early in the second half when Dean Cleland opened the scoring for the visitors. Cleland’s powerful first-time finish into the bottom corner gave the keeper no chance, capping off good work from the Hibs midfield and wingers.
However, Cove Rangers pressed hard for an equalizer, and it eventually came through Ryan Harrington, who headed home at the back post in the 74th minute following a free-kick delivery.
Despite a late offensive flurry from Cove, the Hibs Dev Squad, featuring Jimenez who was substituted at half-time, held firm. The draw is a respectable result in the North and represents a valuable point for the young squad in the league phase of the KDM Evolution Trophy.
