Bermudian footballers Jah’Zion Taylor, Michael Madeiros and Heris Ziai, alongside their St. Andrew's College (SAC) Men’s Soccer teammates, have made a blistering start to their season, scoring seven goals in their CISAA opener before a historic undefeated run at the NXT LVL Showcase in New York. The performances have sent a clear message that SAC is a team to watch this year.
CISAA Opener: A Goal-Scoring Blitz
SAC began their campaign in dominant fashion with a 7-0 victory over De La Salle College. The team was relentless from the opening whistle, racing to a 5-0 lead by halftime. Last year's top scorer, Jayden Walters, picked up right where he left off, netting a hat-trick. Captain Josh Henriques added two goals, while wingers Jarel Ndombele and Dylan Mahoney each scored once. The clean sheet was shared by goalkeepers Raistlan Evans and Joseph Corsetti. The comprehensive win puts them firmly at the top of the CISAA standings.
US Showcase: A Historic Undefeated Weekend
Carrying their momentum across the border, St. Andrew's made history at the NXT LVL Showcase in Albany, New York, with their first-ever undefeated weekend.
Their opening match against South Bronx United (NY) saw them take a swift 2-0 lead within 22 minutes, thanks to a superb free-kick from Henriques and a goal from Walters assisted by Ndombele. However, despite continued pressure, South Bronx United fought back to level the match, resulting in a 2-2 draw. Midfielder Enzo Han was particularly praised for his relentless effort.
In their second and final match of the showcase, SAC faced Lawrence Academy (MA). Walters once again opened the scoring after a perfectly weighted pass from Merek Husack. Lawrence Academy equalized before halftime, but SAC's determination never wavered. The breakthrough came from a goalmouth scramble where Bermudian Jah’Zion Taylor nodded home the game-winner, his first goal for the team. The hard-fought 2-1 victory was a well-deserved result and a significant milestone for the young squad, marking a major step forward in their development.
The team, will look to build on this strong start as they continue their season.
