Curtis & Tucker and Brangman & Nanette Win Comet Races

IslandStats.com
The West End Sailboat Club hosted a day of Comet Class racing in the Great Sound, with two different pairs of sailors claiming victories in the Matthews Cup and the Albert Symonds Regatta.

The first race of the day, the Matthews Cup, saw sailors race from the club around Pearl Island and back. Max Curtis and his crew Wesley Tucker sailed a masterful race, crossing the finish line first to claim the trophy. Veteran sailor Gladwin Lambert, sailing with Giorgio Swan, secured a strong second-place finish.

The podium was completed by Alan Frith and Sarah Frith in third, with Dale Brangman and his crew Treasurer Nanette crossing the line in fourth. Gregory Wade and Geno Smith finished fifth, while Antione Wingood and Simon Van De Weg rounded out the top six.

The fleet then competed in the Albert Symonds Regatta, where the results were shuffled. Brangman and Nanette put on a dominant performance to win the race. The Friths continued their consistent day, finishing second, just ahead of Curtis and Tucker, who finished third.

Lambert and Swan secured a fourth-place finish, while Wade and Smith finished fifth for the second time. Wingood and Van De Weg also repeated their earlier result, crossing the line in sixth. The day of racing provided a great test for the Comet Class fleet and set the stage for a competitive season on the water.
