Bermuda's Aeziah Divine has had a day of promising progress and valuable experience at the R&G British Talent Cup, held at the iconic TT Circuit Assen.
After a strong first day of practice, the young rider is feeling positive about his performance, despite a challenging qualifying session.
"In the First Practice race, I was super fun, getting out onto this iconic track, learning and getting familiar with it," Divine said. "Great first session that ended within the top 15."
The Bermudian showed even greater pace in the second practice session, making a significant leap up the timesheets.
"I hit a fast first lap and stayed with the front runners which helped a lot," he explained. "Thanks to this, I found I had a lot more pace and could push more. I got down to a 1:50.090, just 1.435 seconds off the fastest rider. The session ended with me taking my first top 10 in practice."
The momentum from practice didn't quite carry through to qualifying, where Divine found it difficult to get a clear run.
"Qualifying this morning was challenging. I couldn’t quite get a good track position so wasn’t with the fast group I had hoped to be with," he said. "I pitted to try for a better group but unfortunately it didn’t work out and I did the rest of qualifying pushing on my own where I got my quickest lap of the session being a 1:50.773."
