Quinton Sherlock Jr. has fired a magnificent five-under par 65 to seize a three-stroke lead after the opening round of the 2025 Johnnie Walker Classic at the Ocean View Golf Course.
Sherlock Jr. navigated the challenging course with precision, carding an impressive seven birdies to go with 10 pars. A double-bogey on the 7th was the only blemish on an otherwise near-perfect scorecard, but he bounced back with a closing birdie on 18 to finish strong.
His nearest competitor is Jonathan James, who finished the day in second place with a solid two-under par 68. James was steady throughout his round, keeping pace with the leader for much of the day before Sherlock's late surge.
The battle for third place is a tight one, with Nicholas Jones and Darriek Douglas both carding even-par rounds of 70. Both players will be looking to put pressure on the leaders in tomorrow's final round.
A congested group of five golfers are all tied for fifth place after shooting one-over par 71s. Roger Brangman, Scott Roy, Daniel Augustus, Damian Palanyandi, and Jarryd Dillas all remain within striking distance, setting the stage for a dramatic final day of competition.
With just 18 holes left to play, Sherlock Jr. holds the advantage, but the chasing pack will be ready to pounce on any mistakes at the demanding Ocean View course.
The 2025 Johnnie Walker Classic Open Division Flight Net Division, is being led by Jonathan James who shot an opening round 6-under par 64, Samuel Robinson is currently in second after shooting 1-under par 69, while Stephen Roberts, and Roger Brangman both shot 1-over pars 71.
