Five Bermudian players were instrumental as Thomas College's men's soccer team secured a 4-1 victory over the SUNY Delhi Broncos in a rematch of last season's NAC Championship in Maine.
Tre Burgess, Stefan Simmons, Justin Sukdeo, Adio DeShield-Tankard, and T’syi Showers all contributed to the win, which saw Thomas College start the game in dominant fashion.
The hosts went up 2-0 within the first 22 minutes, with goals from Jeremiah Gomez and Shafi Ibrahim. However, the Broncos pulled one back early in the second half, and four minutes later looked to have equalised before a goal-line clearance from Bermudian defender Tre Burgess denied the chance.
That moment proved pivotal. Thomas College regained control and sealed the win with a goal from Harry Clough in the 72nd minute, followed by a penalty from Ibrahim to make it 4-1.
The victory marks a significant start to the new season for the Thomas College team and their five Bermudian players.
